Stock Speidel gaskets are made from rubber. They “sandwich” between the vessel and the accessory. Nothing holds the gasket in place as you screw on and tighten the plastic orange ring onto the Speidel.

This “sandwich” method - under tightening torque - makes the gasket prone to slippage and displacement, which inevitably leads to leaks.

We developed this custom gasket to be SUPERIOR to the stock gasket because it WRAPS AROUND the accessory disc, sealing on 3 sides!

Great accessories for Speidel fermentors 01/29/2018

I'm glad I found NorCal and their great accessories for Speidel fermentors. These gaskets fit snugly around the disc on each of the NorCal accessories and provide a better seal than the stock gasket designed for the original plastic parts. It may be necessary to wiggle the accessory into the lock ring to prevent the gasket from sliding off of the disc.
These gaskets, in conjunction with their DIP TUBE and BLOWOFF TUBE WITH THERMOWELL, have transformed my 60L Speidel fermentor from a great addition to an incredible asset in my home brewery.
One note: The original plastic spigot is easy to remove from the lock ring without permanent damage so that you can reuse it if necessary. The inner (handle/valve) part of the spigot will slide out of the outer sleeve part with a little upward pressure.

I absolutely love the stainless Speidel upgrades sold on here, but the stock gasket sealing was really questionable because it could easily slip while tightening - this happened MANY times.

With these silicone gaskets that issue is no more, and they are easy to use - hasn't leaked since and I can tighten much more securely now.

A perfect addition to the accessories created and sold by Norcal. Much better than using the gaskets that come with stock speidel which tended to slip. I went looking for these after buying my first accessories from Norcal only to come back soon after and find that they started selling them. Thanks again!
