Very well constructed. Jay communicated well about details, making sure I would get what I needed. I was a little worried about fit, but what I got was perfect. I just gave the exact measurement of my kettle and he did the rest. I did not get a hinge, and after fitting the false bottom in my kettle, I don't really see much need for a hinge in my case. The handle does make it easy to remove for cleaning. I can't really imagine how I would get the false bottom out after a mash without the handle.

Even though I have not used yet I am sure it will work for
brewing a barley wine.i use ten gallon polar ware kettles.I
Have a fifteen gallon vollrath kettle that will hold the twenty
five pounds of grain for mashing.the sixteen inch false bottom fit perfectly ,I like the design and the heavy gage

Finally, a decent false bottom for my stout tanks and kettles Mash Tun! Very quality build. I have to admit, I initially choked on the price, but having it in hand, I've all but forgotten about that. Quite good construction, and materials. Glad I got the handle option. I don't know how you'd get it out easily without it.
